Automatic wedding highlight editing

Wedit brings song analysis, shot selection and assembly into one workflow for wedding highlights. You decide which parts of the day to include, how much space they get and which footage the edit can use.

The app follows five steps: Song, Footage, Sections, Tag and Export. Here is how to take a wedding from camera files to a film you can review and finish.

1. Song: choose the music

Add one or two songs for your highlights. Wedit analyzes the music to find timing information used in the edit. Choose the portion and length you want for the film. Use music licensed for your intended delivery; adding a song to Wedit does not license it.

2. Footage: add the camera files

Add the clips you want to use. Keep the originals in a stable folder on your computer or connected drive. Wedit prepares proxy copies for cloud processing, so the original files remain untouched.

For a wedding shot on several cameras, keep each camera in its own folder. This makes it easier to find the originals later, especially when cameras reuse file names.

3. Sections: give the day its shape

Choose the wedding sections and adjust their lengths on the music timeline. Preparation, outdoor portraits, reception, ceremony and party can each have their own place. Set the balance for this wedding rather than giving every section the same amount of time.

4. Tag: match the footage to the sections

Assign clips to the right part of the day and select the footage you want Wedit to use. A ceremony clip belongs with the ceremony; portraits belong with the outdoor section. These choices give the selection process useful context.

If a section has limited good coverage, shorten it or choose more suitable footage. Giving the edit more time does not create more distinct moments.

5. Export: generate and review

Generate the edit, then watch the film and review the shot board. Replace selections that do not fit, remove repetition and check that the people and moments you care about are represented. You can return to the earlier steps to continue working with the project.

From the shot board to your timeline

Export the film or continue in Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut Pro. The timeline gives you the cut to work from for detailed trimming, color and sound.

For a longer record of the day, use Full movie. It keeps longer chapters, including the ceremony, separate from the short highlight format.

Trying it on a real wedding

Start with footage you know. Check the whole workflow, including preparation, upload, review and export, rather than generation time alone. The amount of finishing depends on your footage and the film you want to deliver.
